Dr. Souvik Banerjee is a Kolkata-based Ophthalmic Consultant with over 18 years of experience, and a keen interest in glaucoma, medical retina, cornea and neuro-ophthalmology. He also has a special interest in research activities and the subjects of clinical methodology, advanced diagnostics, pharmacy, computer applications, glaucoma lasers, marketing trends and strategy.
Dr. Banerjee is Associate Professor at the Vivekananda Institute of Medical Sciences and a Visiting Surgeon at the Ramakrishna Mission Seva Pratisthan. He is associated as a Consultant in Ophthalmology at several other hospitals and clinics, including the Nightingale Hospital, North City Hospital, BB Eye Foundation, Himalaya Optics, and Popular Opticals, besides the Capitol Nursing Home and the Himalaya Vision Care Centre.
After completing his MBBS, Dr. Banerjee went on to obtain a Diploma in Ophthalmology and the postgraduate MS degree in Ophthalmology. He also has a Ph. D. in Ophthalmic Biochemistry. He was an outstanding student during his academic career, winning citations, medals and other awards regularly.
Dr. Souvik Banerjee's aspiration is to be able to teach and preach health in the community that he serves. To this end, he has contributed by being involved in teaching under and post-graduates for over 12 years. He has presented several papers at the World Glaucoma Conferences at Singapore, Boston and Vancouver, and has also been an examiner at professional courses. Besides, he has also been an advisor to leading pharmaceutical companies.
Dr. Banerjee is committed to excellence in his discipline, combining effort with acumen and professionalism. He is sincere and hard-working, and enjoys good relations with patients and students. He believes that dedication is not what others expect of you, but what you can give to others. He has a motto which is to have a unique character like salt in that its presence is not felt, but its absence makes things tasteless. When he is not attending to patients or other professional commitments, he finds time to indulge in his hobbies, which include film editing, internet surfing, computer software, watching movies, cricket, and music-based reality shows.
